This month we launched our customer newsletter. The purpose of the newsletter is to inform our customers about what is happening at Hoxton and the variety of services we can offer. Our newsletter is also a great way to get to know Hoxton Industries and the people who work there. If you don't already receive our newsletter and would like to, just subscribe here.
We recently had a morning tea and naming of our canteen in honour of Ken Charlton (right). Ken was our former Production Manager who passed way earlier this year, he was an extremely dedicated member of our team who had been with the organisation for over 30 years. Pictured at the morning tea are some of Ken’s family members.
We recently commissioned a new skin packer machine that is capable of skinning up to 2500 items per day. Skin pack or skin packaging is a type of carded packaging where a product is placed on a piece of paperboard and a thin sheet of transparent plastic is heated and moulded to the product. The plastic bonds to the heat-seal coating on the paperboard. The skin-packed piece then may need to be cut into individual units. Skin packing is ideal for retail presentation and also provides security for your product. Skin packaging is popular among cosmetic, automotive and hardware items.
Employee Balwant was nominated for and won a Rotary Pride of Workmanship Award, in recognition of his outstanding contribution to our workplace. Balwant is a dedicated and valued member of the Hoxton Industries team and has been employed with us for three years. Balwant's specialty is skin packing, which he has become very proficient at. Balwant states that the best part of working at Hoxton is the happy environment.
As of 1st April 2010, Hoxton Industries has been certified
to the ISO9001 Quality Management System. This certification has proved
invaluable in terms of updating our business processes and our best work
practices. This is reflected in our greatly reduced production non-conformances
and our newly instituted systematic quality control checks.
We have recently commissioned a new hood shrink machine.
Depending on your product this machine is capable of shrink-wrapping 500 units
per day and is generally used for uniquely shaped or difficult to shrink
products as it allows for greater flexibility. Shrink-wrapping is generally
used for security or presentation of your product and is popular for retail items.
